THE BELL JAR BOOK COVER
5 DECEMBER 2024

“I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig-tree, starving to death, just because I couldn’t make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and everyone of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, one by one.”

This is a qoute from the book The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath that inspired the idea behind my book cover design. I illustrate on the front the fig that fell to the ground and began to wrinkle and go black. And on the back a perfect fig, waiting for someone to choose them.

This was an assignment for my Bachelor Visual Communication course, we had to design a book cover based on our chosen book. This was practice to prepare for our exam year in 2025-2026.
