SYNAESTHESIA
APRIL - JULY 2026

My Major project for my Bachelor Visual communications course explores synaesthesia, a neurodiversion in which stimulation of one sense automatically triggers another unrelated sense. This leads to personal sensory experiences such as associating sound with colour, tasting words, or seeing visual subtitles for spoken language and thoughts.

Through interviews with syntesthetes, I started to discover a different world of perception. Their stories became the foundation for a layered book, the dragon-scale binding reflects the overlapping sensory experiences. A series of abstract photographs, a poem, an audio piece, and a light installation, extends the project into an immersive environment that reflects onto the feeling of synaesthesia.
