LOCAL CITIZENSHIP - FOOD FOREST DO-BOOK
FEBRUARY - MARCH 2026

Local citizenship is a fourth-year Bachelor group assignment where students use design thinking to create a learning concept about the food forest for group 8 pupils (11-12 years old).

This project by Laura, Rosalie, and Remke explores an interactive learning do-book that introduces pupils to the seven layers of a food forest. Instead of revealing all layers at once, the book comes in three variations, each covering three layers. Each layer has an interactive assignment like a moving image and a word puzzle! After the pupils discovered their part independently, they team up to share knowledge and create a food forest map together with complementary sticker designs.

By combining independent learning with teamwork, they created a concept that makes learning interactive and fun. The students even tested their work at @deoctopuszwolle, where it received a very positive response from the target audience. They are currently working on bringing the idea to the market.
